Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider workshop, Kingston

CMNRP partner organizations benefit from special registration fees

 

This workshop is open to employees (e.g. RN, RPN, RT) from CMNRP partner organizations who require NRP Provider status in order to function within their current role.

 

You qualify for a partner rate if you are an employee of one of the organizations below: 

 

FOUNDING PARTNERS: CHEO, TOH, KHSC

Employees (e.g. RN, RPN, RT) of CHEO, TOH or KHSC currently working in the Birthing Unit, the Mother-Baby Unit or the SCN/NICU can register for the NRP Provider workshop.  No fee

 

If you are an employee of one of these hospitals but currently working on another unit or department - Partner fee $195.

 

Physicians, residents and midwives working in the organizations mentioned above can also register for the NRP Provider workshop.  Fee: $250.00

 

 

 

HOSPITAL PARTNERS: 

Employees (e.g. RN, RPN, RT) of the hospitals listed below currently working in the Birthing Unit, the Mother-Baby Unit or the SCN can register for the NRP Provider workshop.

 

Almonte General, Brockville General, Cornwall Community, Hawkesbury and District General, Montfort, Pembroke Regional,  Perth & Smiths Falls District, Queensway Carleton, Quinte Health Care, Winchester District Memorial.   Partner fee: $195.00

 

Physicians, residents and midwives working in the organizations mentioned above can also register for the NRP Provider workshop.  Fee: $250.00

 

 

OTHER STAKEHOLDERS:

If your organization is not a contributing partner of CMNRP or you are not an employee of the organizations mentioned above. (e.g. resident, midwife, physician), you must contact Ariane Cloutier at acloutier@cmnrp.ca BEFORE registering. 

 

Priority will be given to individuals who require this training for their current employment.

Event Description

Hands-on learning and practice will be the focus of the workshop.  

 

Objectives:

  • Perform initial steps, bag & mask ventilation, chest compressions, assist with and/or intubate, calculate medication dosages
  • Demonstrate awareness of the unique challenges presented by the preterm infant
  • Demonstrate communication and teamwork, in addition to appropriate interventions, in a variety of resuscitation scenarios
  • Participate in a Simulation & Debriefing exercise

 

Prior to attending the workshop, participants must:

  1. Read the NRP 7th edition textbook. The NRP textbook can be purchased through the CMNRP registration process.
  2. Complete the 7th edition online exam (Lessons 1-11) within 30 days prior to the workshop, and
  3. Submit their ‘Online Examination Verification’ to CMNRP at least 2 working days prior to the workshop.  Participants will not be permitted to attend the workshop without submitting it.

The online exam is available for purchase from the Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) at http://www.cps.ca/en/nrp-prn/online-examinationPlease note an ‘Online Exam Student Guide’ has been developed to facilitate access to the exam and is available on the CPS website.

 

The cost of the online exam is not included in the cost of the workshop. 

The Simulation and Debriefing exercise will be videotaped for educational purposes. Consent forms will be circulated.

 

 

Successful completion of all of the following is required to receive a CPS NRP Provider card:

  1. Online examination (within 30 days prior to the workshop)
  2. Performance Skill Stations
  3. Integrated Skills Stations (including Megacode evaluation)
  4. Simulation and Debriefing exercise

The registration fee is non-refundable if a cancellation is received within 14 days of the workshop date.

 

The textbook is non-refundable.
